Even if you’ve got an idea of where you want to take your life, you might want to consider going through some self-reflection exercises to ensure you are heading towards success. When you’re on that right path, it will lead to total peace of mind and peace in your life.
Here are five self-reflection exercises to help you put everything into perspective. These exercises help to clear your mind, leave you relaxed, and find that peace you’ve been craving:
1. Compose Affirmations
Write down at least 50 affirmations. These affirmations need to be built around what you want to achieve and what you want to be in life.
*Write the affirmations in present tense and use I statements, such as “I am always good at my job.”
*Focus on things that are happening right now that will take you towards success in the future.
You might find yourself thinking things like “I messed up the other day though, and I wasn’t as productive as usual.” If you do hear things like that, then you need to banish the negative thoughts and get rid of them. It takes some practice and effort to become used to positive thinking, but it’s all time well-spent.
*Repeating affirmations out loud helps you to reprogram your mind with positive thoughts.
2. Tap Into the Subconscious Mind
Your subconscious mind holds all of your self-image. All of your attitudes, belief, experience, and values are all stored in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the heart of who you are and it’s an extremely powerful force indeed.
If you reflect inwards upon what is inside your subconscious mind, you get a better sense of self-awareness. Some people refer to this as meditation. No matter what you refer to it as, the process helps you to reach a higher state of consciousness.
*Having a better sense of self-awareness gives you the answers about yourself and what your true beliefs are that you need.
3. Creative Visualization
This is one of the most fun methods of self-reflection! Create a box in your mind for storing your hopes and dreams, or create something like a vision board. Either way, you want words and pictures that represent you and how you think and feel that you can put in your box or on your board. The more information and details you can include, the more effective the technique becomes. Imagination is the key to this process, and the sky is the limit!
4. Ask Yourself Lots of Questions
Be sure to ask yourself lots of questions about yourself. Write these questions – and your answers – down where you can see them. Ask yourself about the present and the future and come up with some positive answers for the questions. Be creative as you want with the questions because the only person who knows what’s inside of you is, well, you. Be sure to structure questions to include details on your hopes and dreams.
5. Write and Reflect
Buy yourself a journal and write something in it each day. Every day, start out by writing something positive from the day. Then write a question for yourself. There’s no need to answer that question immediately. Instead, reflect upon the question and write down an answer the following day as part of the journal entry for that day.
As you can tell from this, self-reflection is an art. Self-reflection involves tapping into your inner being and then using that to work out what you truly want. Over time, your reflections are going to enable you to achieve the peace and serenity that you both want deserve.
